A person in Westcliff lost their home to a blaze that destroyed their house last night.
Four crews of firefighters were called to the terraced house in St Helen's Road at around 6.20pm to find it was completely smoke logged.
It took almost three hours for firefighters to tame the blaze which had ripped through the interior of the house.
Thermal imaging cameras were used by the fire crews to detect remaining hotspots inside the house and prevent it destroying any more homes.
Several floorboards also had to be removed to extinguish the blaze that had already gutted much of the house.
The fire was finally stopped at 9.18pm.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.
