A special needs school has been officially unveiled, with a video released revealing more of the inside of the building.
Glenwood School in Thundersley has moved to a new state-of-the-art two-storey building on the former Montgomerie Infant School site next to its original home in Rushbottom Lane.
The £15.5million project has increased the school’s capacity from 150 pupils to 210 pupils.
The scheme is the first part of Essex County Council’s plans to spend up to £115million on creating more than 400 new special school places across the county.
The record investment, which includes £42million from the Essex Schools Forum, comes following an increase in the number of young people in the county being diagnosed with autism and amid a growing demand for special school places.
Standout features of the new school include a multi-use games area, hydrotherapy facility, sensory rooms, light rooms, drop off and pick up areas, a soft play room, an in-floor rebound trampoline room and an immersive room.
