A SCHOOLGIRL is hoping for votes after she was named in the top five of a sofa designing competition.

Gracee Denning, ten, designed her own sofa and entered it into the SCS competition after her class was asked to take part at Noak Bridge Primary School, Basildon.

Gracee decided to base her design on her school and included pencil sharpners for legs and different lessons for cushions.

SCS liked the design so much they named it as one of their top five of more than 300 entries.

She is now in with a chance of winning a trip to Disneyland and the sofa could be made for her school.

Gracee, who is in Year Five, said: “I was really surprised because I wasn’t expecting it.

“There were a lot of people who entered. I decided to design it on the school because it is going to be in the school if I win.

“I really want to go to Disneyland and my favourite film is Beauty and the Beast.”

Mum Keely Foreman, of Basildon, said she was thrilled for Gracee and the school.

She said: “I am really proud. I was blown away when I found out she was in the top five, it was not something I had thought about.

“What she has done is an achievement in itself.”

Noak Bridge Primary School is asking people to vote for Gracee’s design before Friday, when the deadline is. The winner will be announced soon after.

Headteacher Huma Karim said they hadn’t started planning where the sofa would go if they won.

She said: “It’s great for the school and for Gracee and we need your votes.”

To vote for Gracee to win, go to the SCS Facebook page and like and share Gracee’s design by Friday.
