Emergency services have been dealing dealing with “a serious incident” near to Warrior Square in Southend town centre.
Witnesses in the area have reported that there was a stabbing but police have been unable to confirm this at this stage.
The air ambulance landed in Warrior Square at about 6pm and departed about 50 minutues later. An ambulance was also spotted in York Road.
Police say they have arrested a male who is possibly connected to the incident.
A spokesman for the Southend Local Policing Team said: "The team are currently dealing with a serious incident in Southend again, near to Warrior Square involving Essex air ambulance and East England Ambulance.
"One male arrested possibly connected."
