A VET has encouraged pet owners to be on their guard after a dog was bitten by an adder.
Amy Andrews, from Cherrydown Vets, Cherrydown West, Basildon, has warned owners after Toby, a four-year-old Jack Russell was bitten by an adder while walking in Stanford-le-Hope.
His leg was severely swollen and he was in a lot of pain.
Amy said: “Luckily for him, it wasn’t on his face, which could have been much more serious. If your dog has been bitten by an adder you should seek veterinary attention as soon as possible.”
