A MAN was hit over the head twice by robbers in a vicious street attack.

The 41-year-old man lost a tooth and suffered cuts and bruises during the incident.

The victim was walking along Salisbury Road, in Grays, when he was approached by the two thugs.

They hit the victim over the back of the head with a blunt instrument, before ripping off his coat.

The terrified man tried to run away, but the two muggers chased and hit him again, this time in the face, causing cuts to his mouth and one of his teeth to fall out.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Thurrock police spokes- woman Laura Anderson, said: “This was a violent attack in which the victim was hit twice over the head.

“He lost a tooth and suffered cuts and bruises, but his injuries could have been far worse. Someone must know the identity of his attackers and I would urge them to give their names to police.”

The thieves fled with the victim’s Nokia phone, £35 and a train season ticket worth £600.

Both robbers are described as white youths, aged 16 to 20 and 5ft 8ins tall.

One had blonde hair and wore a blue top and a basecall cap.

His accomplice wore a white scarf over his face.

Witnesses to the robbery, which happened at 11pm on Monday, can contact Grays police on 0300 3334444.
