CELEBRITY Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton has said her former husband never wanted to marry her.

Chantelle, 25, formerly of Charlotte Avenue, Wickford, divorced Samuel Preston in January after just 10 months of married life.

In an interview with Piers Morgan for his BBC television programme, the Dark Side of Fame, Ms Houghton reveals the cracks in their marriage soon started to show.

She said: “A month after we were married Preston told me ‘I knew I didn’t want to marry you on our wedding day’.

“It was weird on the day. He was pulling silly faces when we took our vows.

“After he told me that he never wanted to marry me. We did interviews where we told everyone how happy we were. I lied about being happy.”

Her husband, known as Preston, was the lead singer for the Ordinary Boys, who have since split.

The couple met on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, which Ms Houghton went on to win.

Ms Houghton says the end of the marriage led to her bingeing on food and drink.

In a tearful moment in the interview she says: “I feel bad for my mum.

“I’m her only daughter and I only wanted her to be proud of me.”
