AN American artist, who has worked for big Hollywood film studios, visited Southend to teach students trade secrets.

Marcie Begleiter is a storyboard artist and art director. She has worked for New Line Cinema, Paramount and TriStar.

She visited South East Essex College to talk about her work which involves sketching out scenes before they are filmed on camera.

Organiser Tammy Ellis, the college’s curriculum leader for animation, said: “We have been forging links with the British Film Institute, where Marcie is also speaking, and have been fortunate to have them sponsor her visit here.

“So the only way anyone could see Marcie lecture in the UK was either at the BFI or at South East Essex College, so its great the college is attracting international industry professionals.”

A total of 250 students listen to her lecture which included discussing Gone With The Wind and movie directors ranging from Alfred Hitchcock to Martin Scorcese.
