THE new Vopak Business Technology Centre at Thurrock and Basildon College has been launched.
The rebranding of the centre and partnership with Vopak, the liquid storage terminal operator, is the latest step taken by the college to bring together education and business.
Acting Principal Julia Spearman was joined at the centre in Grays by representatives from Vopak for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
She said: “Our links with industry get stronger and stronger. The majority of our staff have an industrial background. We can give industry the qualifications they want.”
Dawn Sims, Vopak’s manager of human resources, added: “We are very pleased to be involved in this project because we feel promoting personal skills is essential in this day and age.”
The rebranding of the centre follows the launch of the college’s Fork Lift Truck centre and the recent opening of the new Events Management Centre.
