Sasha’s got gift the of the gab

A WESTCLIFF schoolgirl is celebrating after winning a public speaking competition judged by MP David Amess.

Sasha Rimington Hicks beat five other 14-year-old classmates at St Hilda’s School in a closely-fought competition.

Her thought-provoking 60 seconds on the philosophy for a happy life and her take on children’s rights won over the Southend West MP.

Headmistress Susan O’Riordan also addressed the open day audience of parents, guests and pupils. She said: “I was impressed with the clarity of the speeches. The competition really boosted their confidence.

“Sasha won a new hardback and CD of the Greatest Speeches of the 20th century.”

Maybe Sasha can help A-mess to help talk his way out of his recent problems relating to his Expenses Claims (still can't believe 400 a week for food... The guy's as thin as a rake where's he putting it all!) as he's so far done a passable impression of the great Mime artists mixed with the child's instinct to play hide and seek to seek to avoid coming out and being honest with his voters about what he's greedily claimed. Would have a bet of a week of his Food Expenses that he either jumps ship to a safer Tory seat next year or the people of Southend will STILL vote for him as inspite of everything he's done to help sully the name of our town this town will ALWAYS vote for the Tory's. Can't remember the last time this wasn't a Tory town and Tory borough.

Another MP who needs to find something useful to do - perhaps start chasing up the people he paid to make his #1500 website?
