TWO teachers will be spending their summer holidays teaching orphans at a school in Uganda.
Laura Burroughs, 22, from FitzWimarc School, and Charlotte Ash, a trainee teacher at Billericay School, will be volunteering their services at a school in Masaka throughout their six-week holiday.
Raising money for the trip has cost them both £1,500 each so they are keen to get sponsorship to assist them.
Laura said: “The school is for extremely under-privileged children, most of whom are orphans and some have HIV.
“The project we will be working with is called the New Life Community Project and is about trying to give some of the children an education.
“The school in which we will be working has 500 children being taught by six teachers.
“Hopefully, by just being out there for six weeks we can make a difference to these children’s lives.”
The pair are travelling to the East African country on July 23.
To sponsor them contact FitzWimarc School on 01268 743884
