British diving team coach impressed by Southend's new diving pool

THE HEAD coach of the British diving team has been wowed after a look around Southend’s soon-to-be-built Olympic-standard diving pool.

Last month, the British Olympic diving team expressed an interest in using the £13.5million pool at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre for training in the run up to the London games.

Yesterday, Alexei Evangulov, the team’s National Performance Director, had a look around Garon Park, in Eastern Avenue, where construction of the diving facility and public pool is unfolding.

Mr Evangulov spoke in glowing terms about the pool, which will open in October, and was very positive about its potential as a place for the Olympic team to train, including teenage medal hopeful Tom Daley.

Yes, it was £10m. £13.5 million seems a lot for a hole in the ground with a roof over the top.
But spare a thought for the council tax payers of London - they are being truly ripped off having to pay £303 million for the swimming pool being built at Stratford for the Olympics.

If they are impressed, we should be happy - for a change :)

Hold your horses - the key words here are 'soon to be built' I'd rather wait until it's full of clean water and has a roof over it - ie finished. What's the betting it'll top out at 15M?

Well Soozie - lets look at some facts shall we. First I'm English born and bred and have lived in the Southend area all my life so am well aware of the short comings, the broken promises the hype etc. Now you on the the other hand are an economic migrant - a colonial cousin who has chosen to adopt this town for whatever reason, but is now an expert on all things to do with Southend/England etc. As per previous posts, if you don't like the way things are done - pi&& off back to Canada and clubbing baby seals. There really isn't any need to resort to childish behaviour on a public forum!

Ah a classy soul as always perini.

Big deal you are British born. I pay taxes and live in Southend and have for the last 10 years. Whereas you are unemployed as stated by yourself on a previous thread.

Childish behaviour? Look at your post about clubbing seals....

As I said earlier, you are one of the most miserable gits in this place, along with being intolerant and borderline racist.

You have just shown your colours again.

Economic migrant? LOL....
