CIVIL service union reps in south east Essex have hailed the success of their two day strike.
The walkout on Monday and Tuesday by members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union affected services at Revenue and Customs in Southend, Basildon and Grays, court staff, coastguards and driving tests.
The row was over changes to redundancy schemes and was part of national industrial action which continues with a ban on overtime and threats of more strikes.
Kerry Fairless, president of PCS Revenue and Customs south east Essex, said “I've stood on many a picket line over the years, and this was certainly the quietest with very few crossing. I was delighted to see many join us in our rally, showing what solidarity they could in the circumstance."
