Burglars strike in Rayleigh

THREE homes in Rayleigh were burgled in the space of a day.

The first raid happened at a flat in Derwent Avenue where the front door was kicked in between 3.15pm and 3.50pm on March 9.

A three figure sum of cash was stolen and a TV remote control.

The next strike was in Lancaster Road where jewellery worth more than £100 was stolen between 1pm and 8pm after a rear door was smashed.

Lastly, a house in Queens Road was broken into and a jewellery, a laptop, and an Ipod were taken.

Police are not ruling out whether the burglaries are linked.

Anyone with information should call PC Rob Walker at Southend burglary squad on 0300 333 4444 extension 470263.

If burglars go on strike, maybe there won't be so many robberies for a while.

The way the country is going, pretty soon nobody will have anything left worth stealing.

My sympathies to the homeowners. It's not just the fact that these lowlifes help themselves to your hard-earned cash/valuables, it's also that they have invaded the privacy of your home and the inconvenience of insurance claims, paperwork etc. that follows.
