THIS year the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated with special events across the country.
The battle, in which Royal Air Force Fighter Command defeated the German Luftwaffe's attempt to gain air supremacy over southern England, will be celebrated in Southend with a concert by the Bands of the Royal Air Force at the Cliffs Pavilion, on Friday, November 26, tickets for which go on sale this week.
The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £14.50, £17.50 and £20.50. They are available from the box office on 01702 351135, or from the website at www.thecliffspavilion.co.uk
