FAMILY and friends have paid loving tributes to an active dad-of-two, who died suddenly aged just 33.
Danny Thurlow, from Thundersley, passed away at Southend Hospital after being taken ill at home.
His family said the cause of his death was still unknown, and was still being investigated before an inquest takes place later this year.
In the meantime, friends are holding a series of events to help add money to a trust fund set up in support of his two children.
Danny’s dad, Lee Thurlow, 56, said: “Danny was a larger-than-life character and a lovable rogue. His popularity was nothing short of staggering, but that was Danny – he had a heart of gold, and would do anything for anyone.
“He always had a charming smile and an infectious laugh, and was the life and soul of everywhere he went.
“Danny loved life, especially his friends, and will be sorely missed by us all. He lives on in so many peoples hearts and minds.”
Danny, who worked as a plasterer, leaves his wife Lisa Yuni, 28, eight-year-old daughter Ayu Louise, and son, Dan, aged four. He also had a brother Chris, 37, and his mum.
Danny lived and worked in Bali, Indonesia, for five years, where he met his Indonesian wife. The family returned to the UK in 2002.
A former pupil of the Deanes School, in Thundersley, Danny was an avid skate-boarding fan and also loved scuba diving, snowboarding and travelling.
About 200 people said their final goodbyes during a funeral at Basildon Crematorium on February 26.
Danny’s friends, including Jamie Wilson and Mark Longman, of Switch skateboard shop, in Leigh Broadway, have set up a trust fund for his children. Mr Wilson, 34, said: “It’s very sad. We want to raise as much as we can for his kids.”
They are planning to organise a skateboarding event in the summer and will design a special skateboard named after Danny.
An event also takes place at Element nightclub, in Southend, at 10pm on Friday, March 26. It will be hosted for free by a friend and Ministry of Sound DJ Scott Langley.
He said: “I feel for his kids. I just felt I would arrange this, and every penny will go into a trust fund for them, though no money on Earth will ever replace their dad.
“Danny was a great lad and very well liked, so we should have a good event.”
A Facebook group set up in Danny’s memory has hundreds of members paying tribute to him.
A contribution of £10 should be made for tickets to the Element event, and can be obtained from Scott Langley on 07812 401822.
