Promising start for Kursaal antiques fair

A NEW antiques market under the iconic dome of the Kursaal, in Southend, has got off to a good start.

Now organisers are aiming to make the fair a must-see attraction for visitors of the town and are hoping it will bring even more daytrippers to the area.

The venture is the joint idea of the owner of the function suite where the market is based, Matthew Chambers, and local antique event organiser Steven Cooper.

Mr Cooper said: “It was a really good day and lot of business was done in antiques, curios, collectables, art, memorabilia, retro and more.”

A "must-see attraction"? Well they are going to have to do better than a handful of stalls reminiscent of a small church jumble sale. I know Southend is thin on the ground for must-see attractions but surely things must be desperate to think this could be a one.

For how long is it on, where is it advertised? Is it a permanent feature? Apart from AA signs on the road this is the first I have heard about it.
