A MAN has been jailed after he threatened a 15-year-old boy with an imitation firearm at Benfleet railway station.
Benjamin McMahon, 22, got off the train and followed the boy along the platform before threatening him with what looked like a gun and demanding money he claimed was owed to him.
He soon realised he had got the wrong boy and apologised before offering to buy the victim a drink. When the boy refused he left the station at about 6pm on Friday August 14.
But McMahon had been captured on CCTV and he was spotted at Southend Central railway station the following month by operators working for c2c.
British Transport Police officers arrested him and discovered he was wearing the same sunglasses he sported during the incident.
McMahon, of no fixed address but who is believed to be from the south Essex area, appeared at Southend Crown Court where he was jailed for 12 months for possession of an imitation gun.
