YOUNGSTERS were given advice on how to beat school bullies at a workshop.
Year 6 pupils at Briscoe Primary School, Pitsea, took part in an anti-bullying session.
The organisers, the Anti-Bullying crew from Sure Start Canvey Community Children’s Centre, took the kids through role plays and exercises to get the message across in a fun way.
Anna Kieran, 22, one of the crew leading the session, said: “We talk about what bullying is, retaliation, who to tell, and also try to make the kids feel good about themselves.
“We want to give them the tools to look after themselves, but also look out for their friends and classmates.
“It’s really good preparation, especially for youngsters this age who are preparing to go to secondary school.”
Miss Kieran said the workshops were especially relevant to cyber bullying.
She explained: “It’s massively on the increase, but it’s harder for teachers to spot because it goes on outside of school.”
