Southend's summer tourism plans unveiled

PLANS to draw tourists to Southend this summer have been revealed by Southend Council.

In a launch event today, Thursday, March 18, at the Palace Hotel, mayor Brian Smith unveiled three leaflets detailing the town's attractions, events programme and culinary delights.

Councillors are hoping to ensure the tourism industry in the town, which brings £300million into the economy annually, continues to thrive.

August - "Paint The Town Red" competition, organised by the Association of Southend Graffitti Artists.
September - Annual Burglars Convention.
October - Streetfighting Free-For-All

Excellent news about time Southend had a renewal, just clear out all the junkies attracted here by the 'drop in drug centre's' that cause more problems than they solve.

Get rid of all the Benefit seeking bed and breakfast alchy's and the town will improve.

Stamp hard on the Eastern European gangsters, Far east immigrant brothels and cannabis factories, then you might improve the image.

However Anne Waite must be congratulated for massive improvements with the seafront, and the cycle paths under construction unlike Castle Point who 'Pretend' they have a good cycle network!!!

And ignore 'V'

Shouldn't Southend write off this year's tourism trade?

Digging up the seafront during the peak season still seems an act of lunacy to me. There'll be roadworks, diversions...
