A TEAM of hairdressers will be swapping their scissors for walking shoes in aid of a good cause.

Staff at Grateful Heads salon, in Alexandra Street, Southend, have signed up for the Havens to Havens walk in aid of Havens Hospices on Sunday, March 28.

The walk will begin at Little Havens Children's Hospice in Thundersley, where participants can start their walk between 11am and noon.

Salon director, Craig Smith, 35, said: “In the past we’ve held charity fashion shows, ladies lunches and taken part in other walks and events for the cause. We’ve been collecting money from our customers in our tin, but now we have our sponsor forms we’re hoping our clients will support us and help us raise as much money as possible.”

Walkers will leave Little Havens to stroll through woodland, via Hadleigh Castle and along the seafront at Leigh to Fair Havens Hospice, in Westcliff.

The event is £6 per adult, £3 per child and £15 per family (two adults and two children under 12). Entry fees cover the cost of the event, so those taking part are encouraged to obtain sponsorship.

The charity is aiming to raise £25,000.
