THREE families have been homeless after a block of flats in Shoebury flooded.
It is believed thieves had got into the empty flat above them in Ashanti Close and removed some pipes.
Water started to flood through the ceiling and firefighters were called to the scene at 4.20pm on Saturday.
A young woman and her seven-month-old baby and two other families were left homeless and the council has been informed.
Police were called to the scene as firefighters used an aquavac to pump the water out of the building which took about 30 minutes before they declared the flats safe.
