Sounds more like a forced landing, than a crash.

Please get the facts right. Aircraft was NOT a Cessna but a Marchetti flying from North Weald.

Mis-reporting like this can cause unnecessary anxiety with several Cessnas operating from Southend.

Thankfully non were involved in this force-landing.

See the BBC for correct reporting:
"A light aircraft has crashed in a field in Essex but the 49-year-old pilot walked away unhurt, police said.
The ambulance service called police to the scene of the crash in the field off Buckhatch Lane, near Rettenden, at lunchtime on Sunday.
The area was cordoned off for police to investigate the crash of the Marchetti aircraft which remains in the field.
A police spokesman said the pilot had taken off from nearby North Weald airfield in Essex just before landing.
The pilot was checked over by ambulance staff at the scene."

If it was flying from Southend then, based on the distance travelled from North Weald, it would have crashed somewhere around Chipping Ongar.
Lucky it was a "light" aircraft, and not a heavy one.

Does the Echo have a dedicated website Editor and Sub-Editor? I've noticed a number of inaccuracies on this site in the last few weeks. I don't believe, according to the contacts page (very hard to locate!) that they do. It is impossible to juggle a daily newspaper and round up stories, which must be re-written into web form, together.

For the sake of accurate news writing, and accurate website reporting, get a team in!

A Crash may sound more dramatic for headlines, but the size of the story belittles the headline. This is, as commented, a Forced Landing. That is accurate, not sensationalist. The model of aircraft is wrong as reported, and is the term 'wreckage' really necessary?

If they need someone, I'm available

Rather a silly comment.

You don't need to be an expert to know the difference between a crash and a forced landing.
The TV pictures clearly showed the aircraft intact.
