A NEW NHS dental surgery, which will stay open until 9pm on weeknights, has opened in Leigh.
The surgery on the second floor of the Leigh Primary Care Centre, in London Road, will even offer emergency appointments at weekends and bank holidays.
It will stay open from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 11am on a Saturday morning for scheduled appointments.
Esmail Harunani & Co Group, which started in 1986 and has surgeries across London and the South East, will run the practice.
Ian Stidston, interim director of primary and community care for NHS South East Essex, said: “We are delighted to be opening the doors to a brand new NHS dental surgery in Leigh. The new dental surgery will increase access to NHS dentistry in the town in a building designed to make sure the NHS is up to the task of providing a modern health service for another 60 years.”
Dr Esmail Harunani said “We look forward to welcoming local people.”
Both NHS and private patients can book an appointment by calling 01702 482882 or 01702 482881.
Should patients require urgent care during the weekend or on a bank holiday, they will need to telephone NHS Direct on 0845 4647, which will pass their details on to the dental surgery for an urgent appointment.
