A MAN and his partner were threatened at gunpoint in their home.

The attack comes days after a similar attack in Vange, where a woman was threatened by gunmen in her own home in Luncies Road.

The victims of the latest attack said they no longer feel comfortable in their home.

The man, in his late twenties, was at home with his girlfriend, a woman in her thirties, in Fairsted, Basildon, when the attack happened. He answered the door and was confronted by two armed men, one of whom had a pistol and the other a knife.

They forced their way in, before headbutting the man and stealing two mobile phones worth £1,000.

Still shell-shocked after the incident, the victim, who did not wish to be named said: “This has really upset and traumatised us and made us feel really disconnected from our own home. We are in shock this has happened to us.

“It will take us a long time to get over it. It really is messed up.”

The attack, which happened at 12.15am on Saturday, came six days after three armed raiders forced their way into the home of a woman.

The woman and her toddler daughter were asleep in bed when three armed thugs forced their way into their home at 7.50pm last Sunday. They only fled after the woman managed to call police.

After the latest attack, detectives carried out house to house inquiries, checked all CCTV footage near both homes and forensically examined both crime scenes.

Investigating officer Det Con Alex Gartshore of the Basildon CID target team said: “This was a hugely upsetting and terrifying incident for this man and his partner.

“We believe this incident may be linked to a similar incident in Luncies Road last week.

“It should not be underestimated how seriously we are taking this. A team of experienced detectives are leaving no stone unturned in the hunt for these suspects. Please help us by calling us if you have any information.”

One of the thugs was black and wore a black Puffa-style jacket, black trousers, a black beanie hat and wore a black scarf over his face.

His accomplice was white, aged between 21 and 40, and also wore a black Puffa-style jacket, black trousers, a black beanie hat and wore a black scarf over his face.

Witnesses to the latest incident have been asked to contact Det Con Gartshore at the Basildon CID target team on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
