TWO people were kicked out of a council flat after they were found to be living there illegally by drugs busting cops.
The pair had to reclaim their goods from the snow-covered streets yesterday after they were kicked out of the flat in East Street, Southend.
A shopping trolley was loaded with the goods while a flat-screen television and sofa were seen being carried away yesterday afternoon.
They were kicked out a day after police raided 30 flats and houses in Southend and East London in search of Class A drugs.
The busts were the result of an operation launched in October, which saw officers go undercover to buy illegal substances.
It led to the arrest of 37 people suspected of being involved in the illegal trade, two of whom were picked up from East Street, where they were found to be squatting.
A Southend Council spokes-man said: “As a result of the police action, it was found there were a couple of people living there who shouldn’t have been. They weren’t the tenants.
“It is believed to be one of these incidences where they’ve targeted a vulnerable tenant.
“South Essex Homes secured the property, but when the pair were released on bail they went back.
“They were asked to leave yesterday morning, when South Essex Homes went back to secure the property permanently, and it has done.”
Ironically, the pair were kicked out from the flat opposite where a hundred police held their operational briefing at the TA Centre on Wednesday.
South Essex Homes has vowed to kick out anyone who is convicted of drugs offences, as a result of the operation.
Police raided addresses in Coleman Street, Chancellor Road, Cambridge Road, and Sherwood Way, Southend.
In Westcliff, raids happened in Genesta Road, Pantile Avenue, North Road, London Road, Fairfax Drive, Salisbury Avenue and Palmerstone Road.

These people were only kicked out as they were not the legal tenants, not because of their illegal activities. Given the description of their possessions, they seem to be relatively affluent, so won't be reduced to living on the streets I bet.
The only reason south essex knomes took action is because it was forced to act by police ,if they were so bothered about drug addicts and dealers why did they not kick out the scumbags that have been moving in on vulnerable people in the town center tower blocks , simple it costs to much money and their drippy limp gutless staff don't have to live near the problems

When they told him they have a legal right to move it themselves he told them if they touched his car he'd have them done by the police instead. Our neighbour is an absolute **** and gives us great amusement.
I have followed Save Southends posts for a while and believe he is one of those same unelected representatives that claim to represent residents/tenants, but only really represents themselves. SEH is far better at managing the properties than Southend Council ever were, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. I may be wrong but if he is who I think he is, then I believe Save Southend to be what they call a street block voice. A unelected person that thought he could get things done his way and then found out that he can't. He normally then goes on to rant about east europeans who shouldn't be working here or parking there and he knows this and that person in authority etc etc. Somewhat of a walter mitty character who sends off complaints to SEH and the papers on a regular basis, most of it total rubbish, but because he knows better than anyone else, whereas in reality it makes him feel good about himself . He is right about the surveys and taxis though, although the rest is complete self indulgent drivel as usual
