A MAN has been jailed after a six-year-old boy was killed in a road crash.
Marek Kolton was sent to prison after his motorcycle hit Joe Ball in London Road, Westcliff.
The crash happened at about 3.30pm on Monday October 10 last year as score's of children were coming home from Joe's school - Milton Primary.
Kolton was arrested a short time after the crash and subsequently charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving, one count of failing to stop after a road traffic collision, one count of driving without insurance and one count of driving without a licence.
The 26-year-old unemployed man, from Princes Street, Southend, appeared at Basildon Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to all the charges and was sentenced to four years eight months’ imprisonment for the offences. He had another nine months added to this sentence as punishment for other driving offences. He was also disqualified from driving / riding for 10 years and must take an extended driving test before he can apply for a licence again.
