Man charged after woman raped on Southend seafront

A MAN has been charged after a girl was raped on Southend seafront more than a year ago.
The 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the offence which happened behind Adventure Island off Marine Parade at 10.30pm on April 8, 2011.
The man, from Rochester in Kent, was charged with one count of rape and one assault by penetration. Another 17-year-old boy, who was arrested last October in connection with the incident, was released in May this year with no further action being taken against him.
The man has been released on bail to appear before magistrates in Southend on July 9.
