Two men attacked by a gang during early-morning assault

TWO men were kicked and punched by a gang of men during a terrifying attack.

Detectives investigating the attack have examined CCTV which shows a man being badly kicked and punched by a group of men.

Another men tried to stop the violence but was attacked himself and left with serious injuries on the right side of his face and was rushed to Southend Hospital for treatment.

Police have established a large crowd of people were in the area at the time of the attack in Alexandra Street at about 4.10am on June 16 and could be potential witnesses.

Three men aged 22, 23 and 25 from East London were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and were later bailed until August 1.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Bob Evans at Southend CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It never said if they were foreigners, but East London, there aint many English there now unfortunately just 14%. I would guess African background and not Asian.

Alexandra street is a total and utter disgrace now. The Empire Theatre is closed, the resturant nex door is closed and so are many shops.

This area was the main part of the Southend regeneration. EEDA and Renaissance Southend lied and messed everything up.

The Empire Turned the street into a bustling family area, and kept other businesses going. The hole area is now a slum.

Hope the fellas are ok. A friend of mine got attacked and the police caught them AND they were filmed on CCTV. All this not deemed enough evidence by the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute so people don't rely on the police catching them and/or cctv for justice.

They come down here because essex girls have a reputation, if they dont pull they usually walk around drunk with a chip on their shoulder until the trains start running

With East London boyz it’s the same thing as in Romford – they’ll get 20 – 30 of them together and go somewhere they’re not from on the jack – more so Romford than here but it’s on the same train line! Much less chance of being recognised and/or caught! Not to do with females its just so they can mug and beat as many as they can and do whatever they want and they expect to get away with it!
