CCTV images released after attempted rape in Southend
PICTURES from a CCTV camera near to the scene of an attempted rape have been released by police.
Officers hope the image will help them in their investigations to identify a man accused of indecently assaulting a 54-year-woman near a car park in Essex Street, Southend, last Thursday.
At about 12.30am, the male is believed to have approached the victim before assaulting her for “several minutes” and walking away after the attack.
It is believed the woman had met her attacker in the Sutton Arms pub, in Southchurch Road, earlier the same night.
The man police are looking for is described as white, in his late 40s or early 50s, balding, approximately six foot tall and was wearing a light coloured long sleeved shirt with the top buttons undone.
Anyone with information would in connection with the incident is urged to call detectives at Rayleigh Sexual Offences Investigation Team on 101.
