Disabled youngsters invited to Westcliff allotment funday
3:11pm Friday 17th August 2012 in Local News By Emma Thomas
FAMILIES are invited to take part in a gardening funday at an allotments.
Children and young people with disabilities are invited to the Growing Together Gardens in Fairfax Drive, Westcliff, on Friday, August 31 to take part in a range of garden-based activities.
People can build a bug hotel using pots and old pieces of wood, try planting seeds, picking vegetables or identifying plants.
The gardens have wheelchair-accessible paths and a disabled toilet available.
Matt King, chief executive of Trust Links – the charity which runs the gardens - said: “We will be keen to find out which aspects of this the children and young people and their families like most,
so we can see how best to develop things for them in future.”
To take part, call 01702 213134 or email office@trustlinks.org to register attendance.
This is one of a wide range of sports, arts and social activities available to children and young people with disabilities in the borough.
For more details of these, contact the council’s short breaks commissioning officer for children with disabilities, Laura Clarke, on 01702 212310 or Lauraclarke@southend.gov.uk .
