Stop crooks using phonebox for their drug dealing

A BENCH and phone box, which have become a magnet for drug dealers and addicts doing their seedy transactions, could be removed following complaints from residents.
The bench outside the parade of shops in the area known locally as Stacey’s Corner - at the junction of Kibcaps and Timberlog Lane - in Basildon has become a regular haunt by those involved in the sale and purchase of drugs.
Dealers are known to regularly meet punters at the bench to hand over illegal substances in exchange for cash.
The phonebox is also used to arrange the seedy meetings.
But both could now be removed, after fed up residents said they have had enough.
Officials at Basildon Council have revealed they will consider moving both the bench and phone box in a bid to clean up the area.

Sounds like a jolly good idea. A cheap and effective solutions for the residents. Of course it won't make the root of problem go away.
Do the council have the right to simply remove a phone box though ? Just an afterthought.

Do the people who write these stories ever check their information before going live with it? It's Gibcracks that is off Timberlog Lane, not Kibcaps (which is about 3 miles away from Stacey's Corner).

too much like hard work. Much easier to remove public amenities like benches and phoneboxes.....

Less Police/PCSO hours involved.

Why aren't the police down there nicking the dealers/druggies? Stupid solution to remove the bench and phonebox, the problem will just move elsewhere.

That would mean the Police would have to actually do what they are paid for - far easier to remove bench and phone box so the problem goes away for another 25 years!
Agree with others on here - nick the dealers and leave the amenities to be used for what they were intended for.
