Bishop of Chelmsford visits Leigh school
1:00pm Tuesday 9th October 2012 in Local News
THE BISHOP of Chelmsford Rt Revd Stephen Cottrell visited a school to help them celebrate its 90th anniversary.
St Michael’s Church of England Preparatory School in Leigh hoisted a new school flag and conducted an outdoor communion service.
The Bishop, a former Belfairs School pupil, joined staff and pupils in the traditional processional circuit of Hadleigh Road and London Road in commemoration of patron saint, St Michael.
Head teacher Stephen Tompkins said: “ It was wonderful to have Bishop Stephen to lead our 90th anniversary celebrations on St Michael’s Day. The visit emphasised the strong links that have existed between the school and the local community over many years. I am quite sure that the children will always look back with fondness to this special day. ”
