Gunman in Southend restaurant

4:10pm Thursday 18th October 2012 in Local News

ARMED police were called to a Southend restaurant following reports of a man with a gun.

Officers were called at about 8.50pm yesterday after a member of staff was threatened in the kitchen area of Salsa, in London Road.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody.

No weapon was recovered.

Doubt the member of staff imagined it. Drugs or not it would have been a frightening experience. The scroat probably realised the police were on their way and lobbed the gun down the alley way next door.

We were in the restaurant opposite and felt the police handled it very well.
