A LAINDON police officer has been charged with careless driving following a smash at Sadlers Farm.
Pc Paul Calpin, 44, who is stationed at Laindon Roads Policing Unit, was on duty in a marked police vehicle when the collision happened on Sadlers Farm Roundabout, Bowers Gifford.
The collision happened at 12.55pm on May 4, 2014 when the police car he was driving was in collision with an Audi A3.
The woman driver of the car was injured and had to be treated at Basildon Hospital as her right foot was crushed.
She is still receiving treatment.
Also in her car were her husband and five-year-old daughter who suffered minor injuries.
PC Calpin and the colleague he was with on the day suffered minor cuts and muscular injuries.
Pc Calpin will appear before Colchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 18.
