BURGLARS broke into a young woman’s home just days before she is due to go in to hospital for brain surgery.

Thieves targeted the 23-yearold’s home in Buckerills, Pitsea, between 2.45am and 9am on Saturday and stole her Pink Packard Bell laptop as well as her parent’s car and jewellery.

Mum Debra Jones, 55, said the house was packed with flowers, get well cards and balloons, so the heartless thieves must have realised the person they were stealing from was ill.

She is appealing for anyone with information to contact police. Mrs Jones said: “My daughter is very private and does not want her name in the paper.

“But we want everyone to know these burglars have stolen from someone who is about to go in to hospital for very serious brain surgery.

“We hope this might prick someone’s conscience.

“My daughter is only 23. The laptop contained all of her photos and is very distinctive.

“It’s been a very difficult time for my family. For someone to do this to us has left us all feeling very shaken. It’s been a terrible blow for my daughter so close to her going into hospital.”

The thieves got in to the property by forcing the front uPVC door open.

They snatched jewellery, car keys, a pair of Adidas trainers and Mrs Jones’ handbag containing her purse and bank cards.

The thieves then stole the Jaguar S Type off the drive, but bizarrely they dumped it just yard from the Jones’ house.

Mrs Jones added: “The jewellery was not very expensive, but I think they stole my gold cross and chain. We found the car parked round the corner from our house on Saturday afternoon. The keys are still missing and it looked like it had been parked in a hurry.

“The Jaguar is a few years old now, but my husband loves it. It is a classic.”

Anyone who has been offered any of the stolen items for sale, or anyone with information about the burglary should contact Basildon CID on 101.
