Fight to save Wickford beauty spot is lost

THE fight to save a Wickford beauty spot has been lost.

About 200 homes will be built on Barn Hall fields after Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State, overturned Basildon Council’s decision to protect the area.

Campaigners fear the move will open the floodgates for developers Gleeson Homes to build up to 1,000 homes on the 100-acre site.

Jacqueline Boynes, of the Wickford North Green Action Group, said: “Homes could now pop up all over this beautiful area. I am shocked.”

As someone quoted last week, the A127 & A13 corridor, will be all suburbs of a Greater London. With no open land in between. I bet that Hazel Blears does not live in this part of Essex, if at all. Brentwood,Billericay
, Basildon,Canvey Is, Hadliegh, Rayliegh, Rochford, & Southend, and all little bits inbetween will just part of this Greater London. All our pleasurable spaces will taken away for more people from the EU and beyond. GOD Help us all.

these houses are needed for the 4 million immigrants labour have already let in and for the 10 million extra they are bringing in by 2050. get used to it, you can do nothing to stop the immigration surge and you will have to give up your job, your house, your pension and the english way of life.

Has Hazel Blears ever visited Wickford? May I suggest John Baron invites her to do so in order to meet the residents and explain why she feel justified in overturning a decision made by our Councillors.

Have the Council done anything to safeguard the rest of Barn Hall, as they didn't act quickly enough to save this part.
Once the first part has been built upon, it will only be a matter of time before the rest disappears under concrete.
The residents were led to believe the Masterplan covered all the housing needs for Wickford - now we will end up with 700 monstorous flats and at least 200 houses, all within a quater of a mile of each other. There are no obvious signs of improvement in the High St or infrastructure. Wickford will become gridlocked and the trains crowded beyone belief. What a mess.

Why can't they knock down a few of the empty units over at shotgate & build on that?

Even better get rid of the travellers at crays hill & build the houses there!

Well done Mrs H. above, The Wickford Action Group have spent the last two years or so explaining to residents this exact scenario. I even got a prominent Wickford Councillor to agree with me on the point that if we got the Masterplan and Barn Hall this would be a nightmare scenario. He knows who he is.
The Council failed to get Barn Hall designated as ‘Green Belt’ by failing to implement a new local plan. It is ‘land of special reserve’ which means it can be built on as it will unfortunately be now.
We have been pillared by Councillors, Estate Agents and some residents but in the end unfortunately the people of Wickford, and the Wickford Action Group, called it correctly.
Your Council and Councillors have failed the people of Wickford. This is unacceptable.

If Mrs H. or Gary Hobbs above, or any other residents, would like to get in touch they can at balla@btinternet.com
, or visit www.wickfordactiongr
oup.org.uk for more information.

Yet another reason to boot out Nu-Liebour. What is the point of a planning system if every time a development is opposed some Nu-Liebour politico just steamrolls it through?

It is now so obvious that Nu-Liebour are in the pockets of big business and don't give a **** for the ordinary people of Britain.

They are all pigs with their snouts deep in the trough at the expense of the rest of us.

Thank-you so much Hazel Blears for illustrating yet again what a waste of space the labour government truely are.
I find it criminal that she can over turn a decision & allow more green lung to be dissolved, she clearly has no thought for the environment or the environment that we are going to have to put up with as a direct result of her thoughtless actions.

Mr Bull,

All your interested in, is making Wickford into more of ghost town than it is at the moment.

Also you might find that Ms Blears is a LABOURITE, not a Conservative who are actually in power at the moment for Basildon/Wickford/Bi
llericay
