A MAN accused of stabbing his mum’s boyfriend to death has appeared in court.
Lee Byatt, 31, appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court charged with murder.
Byatt is alleged to have stabbed Colin Ricketts in the early hours of Sunday morning following a row in Mildmayes, Laindon.
Byatt answered only to confirm his name and date of birth. He did not enter a plea to the charge.
Mr Ricketts, 46, a dustman who used to live in Witchards, Basildon suffered three stab wounds - one to the stomach and two to the chest.
Byatt was remanded in custody following the short hearing. He will reappear at Basildon Crown Court in July for a plea and case management hearing.
*A 51-year-old woman, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail until May while police continue inquiries.
