BASILDON Council has increased its popular mobile tip service to include 11 more areas across the district.
The service saves residents from having to go to the tip by allowing them to dump household waste in a refuse lorry which calls at designated spots.
The council runs the free service at various locations, and it will now be run in 11 new locations. Each of these sites will be visited four times a year on dates to be confirmed.
Malcolm Buckley, Tory councillor for the environment, said: “The service is popular with residents, which is why we want to make sure investment in these services continues.
“The new locations will mean more areas of the district are covered.
“The funding we’re putting towards the schemes will increase recycling at the sites to help us reach our target recycling rate of 50 per cent and make the service easier to access.”
The collections run between 9am to noon on Saturdays. To find out when it is visiting your area, call the council’s streetcare department on 01268 294949.
