John Terry's dad spared jail

THE father of Chelsea and England footballer John Terry was spared jail today for supplying cocaine to an undercover newspaper reporter.

Edward Terry, of Chafford Hundred, admitted supplying 3.5 grammes of the class A drug to a News of the World journalist, who was posing as a chauffeur, last November.

But Judge Christopher Mitchell said: "It is a very, very clear case of entrapment solely to create a newspaper story."

Terry, who is in his mid-50s, was sentenced to a suspended prison term of six months at Basildon Crown Court.

He was also ordered to do 100 hours of community service and pay £95 costs.

Funny that, I always thought the supply of cocaine was a mandatory prison sentence...

You can't be sending drug dealers to prison, that wouldn't do at all. Where would the million+ junkies get their weed and crack? We have one of the worst drug addiction rates in Europe, and if we suddenly cut off the supply there would be rioting in the streets, the price of drugs would go through the roof, and burglary and robbery would increase as addicts needed more and more money to fund their habit. Letting the dealers off is the only sensible thing to do - send them home and get them out dealing again as soon as possible, to keep the supply of drugs high, the price of drugs low, and drug related crime under control. I appreciate that most of the money paid for drugs goes to fund organised crime and terrorism, but that is surely a small price to pay to keep our prisons free of dealers and our junkies happy.

WILL Sarah Ferguson get off as well from her recent financial 'Entrapment' that was ALSO carried out by this comic of a Sunday paper?

I VERY much doubt it.
