Accident at Nevendon Interchange on the Southend bound A127

A TWO car accident has caused massive rush hour delays on the A127.

The incident happened between a gold Renault Megane and a 3.45pm and a black Renault Clio at the Nevendon Interchange near Wickford on the Southend-bound dual carriageway.

The road was closed for 15 minutes while emergency services were on the scene.

Traffic is queueing back as far Dunton at the B148.

Nobody was injured in the crash and the drivers exchanged insurance details at the scene.

It was actually about 50mins, and as usual the whole road was unecessarily closed causing massive disruption to the whole area.
If no one is killed or badly injured the next priority should be to get the traffic moving because the jams create other accidents behind and around them.

Couldn't agree more. I drove past it going the other way and there didn't seem much to it.

Actually, perhaps the police would like to explain why they closed the road and caused such massive disruption when nobody was injured and the vehicles were not even badly damaged (I was there)?
It caused massive inconvenience to thousands of people, but hey, who cares, we've got heath and safety to consider.....oh, and we don't really care.

The SILVER Megan had the wheel hanging off - it had to be pulled out of the way by the police Land Rover, hence waiting for that. In the meantime, photos need to be taken, and the road cleaned. It was closed for 50 mins, and opened as soon as the fire crews got there. They also have to make sure no petrol is leaking - obviously.

Oh, and the other car I'm sure was a black Mondeo?

One lane could have easily been kept open and if fuel were leaking it would have been totally obvious, but of course with our health and safety obsession we had to have an official fireman's sniff.
The simple fact is that we have all become too risk averse, and consequently some people have actually paid with their lives, so please don't start making excuses for the fact that a minor shunt once again shuts a major road, it happens all the time now.

Its bloody roadworks that wind me up the most. The reason why police have to shut it off is because they need to investigate whose fault it was so charges can be given to the offending driver if needed. It was probably a case of each driver blaming each other. Why do people crash for? I drive extremely fast but have never crashed. Theres a few people that need to re sit their tests I think!

"... I drive extremely fast but have never crashed. "

But I bet you see a lot of accidents in your rear view mirror.

Not entirely relevant but does anyone else get annoyed when driving along the Arterial at the speed limit,50 mph, they come flying down the slip road at Nevendon at 60 mph.?

How can you get annoyed when someone comes past you 10mph faster? What the hell? Ive come onto and left a slip road before at 100mph. I remember once I was going down the A13 heading towards the Lakeside turn off and I was on lane 3, and I cut across all 3 lanes of traffic at about 90-100mph, so I could get onto the slip road. Would that annoy you?

Yeah but you are an idiot as all your posts show. Merely seeing you on the road would annoy me!

The speed limit at Nevedon is 70mph - it only goes to 50mph at the Dick Turpin...

That might be why?

Yes 70mph at Nevendon. Correct merging speed is 70mph unless traffic is slow.

Yh your correct. 70mph is the speed you should enter a dual carriageway or motorway. You ever had someone in front of you, doing like 40mph when there about to join a dual carriageway? So annoying and pretty dangerous too.

And with you driving at those speeds and the way you drive is pretty dangerous too.

No problem. Hopefully you will rethink your driving before you cause an accident!
