Why is 'Police actually get round to doing job they are paid to do' worthy of a news headline?

Perhaps just filming for another "TV Cop" series.
Low Life get arrested, then released without charge. That's the usual format

Crikey! Whatever will the police think of next?

What a cunning way to detect crime!

No wonder detectives call them "wooden tops"

would it be too far fetched to ask the police to catch one or two (at least) of them in the act and arrest them now and again rather than stalking them with cameras?

Of course that might mean them actually going out on patrol in the dark.....

Er, Are you then saying the CID detectives were not the ones doing the filming? You make everything sound like it is the uniform policemen's failure. That is like saying it is the bank tellers who caused the financial crash in this country and not the gamblers at the top. This may surprise you, but most PC's have to do whatever "Sir" tells them. Using initiative is a little against the hierarchy of that institution and sadly, the way this country is now run!
