A HEARTBROKEN family has launched a campaign to find their dog after she was stolen from their home.

Thieves stole six-year-old cocker spaniel Pip from a farm in Woodham Ferrers while her owners were at work last Tuesday.

The beloved pooch, who is black with a while mane, was taken from her kennel between 4pm and 4:30pm.

Members of the family have issued appeals for information on various websites and have been putting up posters in the local area.

Owner Jeremy Cooper said: "She is my companion and was always with me around the farm. But the whole family and everyone who knows her is upset. We all think the world of her and want her back.

"She has a brother called Jake and he is pining for her and has completely changed since she went missing. She would not have run off because she just loved being with people. She is a very friendly dog and must have been coaxed away from her kennel by the thieves.”

Essex Police is appealing for anyone who might know the whereabouts of Pip to come forward.

Investigating officer Pc Neale Parker said: "Pip was taken from a working farm during working hours and this crime shows that the people responsible have a blatant disregard for the law and the emotions of their victims."

Anyone with information should contact officers at Chelmsford Area Investigation Team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
