Police to sell nine stations and buildings as cuts bite

NINE police stations and nine police buildings will be sold off by the county's force.

Essex Police made the announcement on Monday after the plans were agreed by a meeting of the Essex Police Authority.

The estate sell-off will help the force make £42million worth of savings by 2014/15.

The buildings include police stations in Rochford, South Benfleet and Westcliff and three police buildings in Pitsea.

Why dont they just sell them all? Why dont they just reduce the police force to 5 blokes who meet up in a carpark?

These are buildings that will never return and this is just the start. Front offices closing,lots of police jobs being privatised and now the buildings going. The £50 million that had to be saved still hasn't been reached so what will go next???

Next? scrap the whole concept of police and give the public (the sane and lawful ones!) a baseball bat, bulletproof vest and American Football style protective helmet and leave us to police the streets and sort out the garbage. and about time too!

INSTEAD of cutting this way, why NOT cut the Extortionate salaries of the High Ranking Crew, sitting in their luxury offices as most Employers do, while the TRUE workers suffer from cuts here, there and everywhere, other than the top brass?

This present day Police Farce...sorry Service is exactly that - too much PC (no pun intended) too much paper work too many chiefs and not enough plod on the streets. Take the restraints off and let them do their job without targets/quotas etc. Might help if the Judiciary took their blinkers off as well.

I might have been persuaded this was a disaster and a terrible injustice, but seeing how the police dealt so appallingly with Mr Inthrajith, and the complete lack of contrition or even concern for how they'd been played like cheap fiddles by a bunch of chavvy schoolkids, I thought....

The "police buildings" appear to be mainly surplus houses, like the 3 in Pitsea. The police station remains.

tose three buildings in Pitsea will probably be the houes in Howard Crescent - the ones that are in a quite delapidated condition next to the revamped police station that never seem to have any use other than somewhere for them to park their vehicles.
