CHILDREN and adults had the chance to try out the newest craze in Basildon .

Festival Wakeboard Park, the county’s first cable wakeboard park offered beginners a chance to hop on board for free on Friday.

The public were invited to try the new surface water sport at Festival Leisure Park and to see demonstrations by Festwake.

Patric Foley-Brickley, joint owner of Festival Wakeboard Park, said: “It was fantastic to see some beginners come down and try the adrenaline-pumping sport for themselves.

“There were a number of young adults here today who enjoyed watching our pro-riders and had their very first wakeboarding session. Fingers crossed better weather continues and we see more newcomers take to the water throughout the summer holidays.”
