More athletes arrive to train in Basildon

MORE athletes, taking part in the London 2012 games, have arrived in Basildon.

Five Japanese Paralympians - four of which who are taking part in the 1500 metre running while the other who is taking part in the long jump - will be training at the Sporting Village in Gloucester Park for the next four days.
The Japanese Paralympic swimming team are also due to arrive in the borough in August for six days training.
The athletes follow in the footsteps of the Japanese swimming team, who recently made their way to the Olympic village at Stratford after training in Basildon for three-and-a-half weeks.
The Canadian women’s gymnastic team and Commonwealth gold medallist discus throw Krishna Poonia have also taken part in training sessions at the sporting village.
