Eight people trapped in Basildon shopping centre lift

FIREFIGHTERS rescued eight people after they became trapped in a lift.
A mechanical error forced the car park lift in the Westgate Shopping Centre, Basildon, to stop whilst the shoppers were inside.
Officers from Basildon fire station were called to the incident at around 3.50pm on Saturday.
They used a crowbar to open the doors and were able to release the people within ten minutes.
