HOMEOWNERS are to be consulted on plans for a new care home due to be built on an old community centre site in Billericay.
Hallmark Healthcare, the developer who bought the 1.3-acre site in Outwood Common Road earlier this year, has said it will display plans for the proposed care home in September.
Residents will then have the chance to comment on the plans before the developer submits a formal planning application to Basildon Council.
Back in March, the Echo reported residents’ relief at finding out the old community centre, which had been abandoned for two years, would not be turned into a supermarket or residential development, as they had previously feared.
Sue Earry from Hallmark said: “We’ve held many meetings with locals, council representatives, planning officers and local GPs, and I’m pleased at the support Hallmark has had for the proposed care home.
“We’ve been working with architects to prepare a scheme for the development, and we’ll be inviting you to attend our exhibition early in September.”
