MORE than 70 children tried their hand at fencing with the help of a professional yesterday.
James Beevers, one of Britain’s top fencers, visited Sunnymede junior school, Billericay, to offer children aged five to ten a taster session.
Tracy Crease, school spokesman, said: “It went really well.Promoting fencing is something James feels very passionate about.
“The children all got to have a go and learnt a lot about the sport. They’d all heard of fencing, but associated it with swashbuckling pirates.”
