A HEADTEACHER has praised pupils and staff for their hard work after their school was hailed as “outstanding” by Ofsted.
After visiting Buttsbury Junior School, in Norsey View Drive, Billericay, in February, inspectors were so impressed they awarded the school the highest grade possible.
The schools’ watchdog noted the diverse and creative school timetable, and one teacher in particular who got pupils to hone their language skills while learning tai chi – by giving the instructions in French.
Inspectors described pupil behaviour as “exemplary”, and praised the teachers and governors for “constantly evaluating how to drive the school further forward”.
Ofsted also congratulated the school for its links with the community.
Delighted headteacher Vaughan Collier said: “Everything we do as a school is the product of teamwork, which involves all the staff, governors, parents, the friends’ association and, of course, the pupils themselves.
“It is a real privilege to be headteacher of such a committed school community.”
